Movie Nights is a small, private, non-commercial website run by Mirzac Nicolae for family and friends. Signing in is by invitation only. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking cookies, and your data is never sold or shared for marketing.
- Your Google account basics when you sign in with Google: your name, email address and profile picture.
- Your library: the titles you add, your ratings, watch dates, favorites, watchlist, notes, your own lists and tier lists, and your settings. It's saved in Google Firebase (Firestore) so it syncs across your devices.
- On your device: settings and saved answers from the movie services, kept in your browser's storage so pages load quickly and work offline. The site itself sets no cookies.
- You: your own library. Other members can't see it.
- The site owner (the administrator) sees each member's name, email, picture and library statistics (how many titles, how many rated, the spread of scores) in the Admin Control Center, and as the administrator has technical access to the stored libraries.
- Google stores the data as Firebase's provider. Access is limited by security rules to the invited accounts.
To show posters, ratings, trailers and news, your browser asks these services directly, so they see your IP address the way any website does: TMDB, OMDb, YouTube (trailers; YouTube may set its own cookies when a trailer plays), Apple iTunes (soundtrack previews), AniList, TVmaze, Wikipedia and Wikidata, movie news sites (through rss2json), Google Fonts and cdnjs. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages.
A share link you send carries what you chose to put in it (your first name, your score, a note), so anyone with the link can read it.
- Download your data any time: Settings → Backup.
- Have it removed: ask the site owner (the person who invited you), and your account and library are deleted.
- Notifications are only shown if you allow them in your browser, and you can turn them off there.
- If you're in the EU, you have the right to access, correct, delete or take away your data (GDPR). Ask the site owner.
